White House blasts Sarkozy

The British press has gone so hyperactive over the two-day trip, not to mention its borderline irrational obsession with Carla, that I am not even going to attempt to search out the best stories of the day. On a slightly different note, one piece from The Telegraph entitled "Nicolas Sarkozy the rampant Anglophile" included quite an interesting quote:
Mr Sarkozy employed the same heady Gallic charm we experienced in Britain this week when he made his state visit to Washington last year, during which he seduced the Bush White House by repeating his commitment to re-integrating France into Nato's command structure and increasing France's military commitment to Afghanistan.

But, as one senior Bush Administration official explained, for all the talk, the Elysée has been very tardy in following up on Mr Sarkozy's promises: "The French talk a lot about changing their attitude, but, when it comes to practicalities, they find a thousand reasons for not doing anything. It is all very frustrating."

Sure is a good thing such words could never be said about The Uniter and Merry Band of Puppeteers.
