Sarkozy with Obama tomorrow

Tomorrow afternoon Barack Obama will come by for a one hour meeting at the Elysee with Sarkozy, followed by a joint press conference. He will then leave quickly for London, where he will dine with Gordon Brown. According to Le Figaro, Sarkozy is barely hiding his presidential preference:

«Obama ? C'est mon copain», confie le président au Figaro. «Contrairement à mes conseillers de la cellule diplomatique, je n'ai jamais cru dans les chances d'Hillary Clinton. J'ai toujours dit qu'Obama serait désigné», assure-t-il.

Prudent, le président se garde bien de faire un pronostic sur l'issue de la présidentielle américaine. Mais il ne cache pas qu'une victoire d'Obama «validerait» sa stratégie de réconciliation avec l'Amérique.
