Sarkozy the Socialist

I don't know if he believes half the words he says, but if he does, that means he didn't believe half the words he used to say:
"The ideology of the dictatorship of the market is dead...Historians will one day see that "this crisis marks the real start of the 21st century," he said, a century which will see the "return of politics" in the running of national economies. "This is an intellectual and moral revolution that is happening."

I guess he sees this as the ideal political positioning: nationalist enough to finally shut down the far-right, socialist enough to satisfy the moderate left, and Gaullist enough to tick off the US. But the brashness will have a backlash, whether it's the US, the Germans, or someone else.
